INDIANAPOLIS – The Department of Computer & Information Science is excited to announce our new local Ph.D. program.  In June 2016, the State of Indiana Commission for Higher Education approved a local Ph.D. degree program in Computer Science at IUPUI.  Graduates of our program will receive a Purdue degree at Indianapolis.  In the past, students who wanted to obtain a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Computer Science at IUPUI had to apply and be admitted to the Purdue University West Lafayette program to study here.  Eliminated are the logistical barriers of having examination committees from both campuses, making it a much smoother process for students to concentrate and finish the requirements of their degree locally at IUPUI.

The goal of our program is to prepare students for a career in research in computer science in academia or industry.  Students will have the opportunity to quickly get involved in cutting edge research while working directly with members of our Computer Science faculty.  Areas of active research within the department include Databases & Intelligent Systems, Imaging & Visualization, Networking & Security, and Software Engineering & Distributed Systems.  For more information or to apply, visit
