Yes, one more email account! For many of you, it only
adds to the growing number you may have and you are finding
it difficult to stay on top of your emails. So not
fear, we can put a forwarding file in your DS9 account.
For some of you, this is an exercise you are going to postpone
for a couple of weeks. Once we cover protocols, Unix,
etc., you will be more comfortable. For some, you
may be ready to go. Here is the process.
- Telnet to DS9.
- Create a file called .forward in your home directory.
No, the period (.) in front of forward is not a typo.
Forward will not have a period (.) after it.
- Using an editor (vi, emacs, etc.) place the email address
to which you want the CS email to be forwarded to.
The file will not contain any other information.
- Close the file and make sure the permissions are set
to 644. Type: chmod 644 .forward
- Test it and make sure it works. Your email will
continue to forward until you remove this file.
