Many people begin N241 and say -- I know how to do that.
Now they question whether or not they are in the right class.
Our experience is that you are probably in the right class.
While many people know how to write basic HTML code, this
class will cover a lot more. If you are comfortable
will many of the following, then you may want to consider
transferring to N341 which focuses upon JavaScript, CGI/Perl,
DHTML, etc. However, the foundation you will
receive in N241 will be critical for N341. So if you
are not comfortable with the list below, then you are in
the right place.
- I understand the binary thing.
- I can convert to decimal and hexadecimal.
- I use FTP and Telnet regularly.
- I can create and rename files and directories in Unix.
- I understand Unix permissions (when to use 644, 755,
etc.).
- I can use emacs or vi editors.
- I know and understand the different protocols of the
Web.
- I understand and can illustrate the difference between
.gif, .jpg, and .png graphics.
- I know and use Boolean operators to surf the Web.
- I can edit graphics and convert them for use on the
Web.
- I am familiar with Cascading Style Sheets.
