The CampusCompass displays large panoramic views and long route panorama images in landscape form. The viewer should align a PDA in proper directions to look at images. The data should be accessed through wireless connection of PDAs. If a user is testing it on desktop, the explorer page should be reduced to size of 240*320 pixel.

The entrance of the campus can be text, map, and view from index page.

Text pages list street names, spot names, and facility names, from which route panorama images, panoramic view, and discrete images can be reached respectively.

Map

Map and satellite images are prepared and are possible for switching. Two layers of map provides different resolutions of the map and satellite images. Clicking a corner (marked in red) of the low resolution map can jump to one of the high resolution maps. Clicking the same corner (marked in blue) at a high resolution image can return to the low resolution image. Clicking a boundary (marked in blue lines) of a high resolution map can jump to an adjacent high resolution map.

Links from streets to route panoramas are embedded in the map.

Links from buildings to facility pages are embedded in the satellite image and map in both resolutions.

Links from open spaces to spots with panoramic views are embedded in the satellite image in both resolutions.

If the map and satellite image are too small to find locations, use desktop layout on the PDA to double the size of the map and satellite image.

Streets

For a route panorama, a scroll bar can move the scenes back and forth, according to the direction indicated in the center row of the street.

Street to street links, street to facility links, and street to spot links are embedded in the route panorama for switching to a street or a building by clicking.

Facilities

From a facility page, links to adjacent streets are prepared.

More detailed information can be followed through links to normal web pages.

Spot

From spot pages, links to surrounding buildings and streets are embedded in the compass image. Click the building to go to these places. Surrounding scenes also have text links from the spot pages.

Clicking the center of compass image (green circle) gives an opened panoramic image.

From above sub-pages, there are links back to start and index page. Clicking back button can always return to the previous page.
